A new butterfly to put on my species list… Hackberry Emperor!
I was just looking around and I saw something land on the pine tree. I was guessing it was this butterfly then I debunked that id and this went on for about a minute. (A minute is a long time when you are trying to id something just from memory)
It is a great feeling to have when you see a species you haven’t seen or heard of for the first time, especially in their natural habitat.

Hackberry Emperor | Alice Mary Herden | April 2020
By the time I got out of the car to take more photos, it flew away peacefully into the forest!
